Who is the FeistyChef?
Chef John Feist is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America with extensive experience across the culinary field. I completed my apprenticeship in Switzerland with Mövenpick and have led several successful catering businesses throughout my career. I’ve taught cooking and nutrition classes for students of all ages—from elementary schools to adult education programs. My passion is helping people understand the true meaning of mise en place (everything in place), how to utilize ingredients wisely, and how to save money through smart, efficient cooking.

When my students understand where ingredients come from, they naturally make healthier choices—because you are what you eat.

Each Zoom Cooking Class includes six hands‑on sessions beginning at 5:00 PM. Once you register, you’ll receive a digital cookbook that guides you through everything we’ll be cooking together. It includes your ingredient list, kitchen tools, and all the mise en place (everything in place) you’ll need so you can arrive at class organized and ready to cook. We cook from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM — then it’s time to enjoy your meal with family and friends.
When you join my FeistyChef Zoom Cooking Classes, you’ll get the Mise en Place Cookbook 2026 Zoom Edition as part of your registration. This book is your roadmap — it gets you ready for me to pop onto your screen at 5:00 PM so you can cook, have fun, and sit down to eat by 6:30 PM.
Once you receive the cookbook, you’ll also hear from CreateMyCookbook, their team will show you how to build your own cookbook from our six sessions together. At the end of the program, you’ll be able to upload photos from your cooking adventures — your own cooking show — and turn them into a personal keepsake. Add your own recipes, add family dishes, make it special. This is your story in the kitchen.

Decades ago, I worked alongside a brilliant nutritionist at a corporate training center, she as the Nutrition Expert, and I as the Executive Chef. After many years, our paths crossed again as she and a colleague began developing a project focused on the connection between food and the mind. Their research and insights continue to inspire the FeistyChef mission.
